This is the very first trip I took to China in 2024 during the Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival.
I stayed here for two weeks, and these are some of the first photos and the very first impressions I’ve gathered of Shanghai and China. A futuristic, modern city with its tall, beautiful buildings—a big city vibe, yet it feels so far from the West because of the language barrier.
You can feel the Chinese New Year atmosphere everywhere, with giant decorations, lanterns, and flags all around.
The Bund gets absolutely packed during the holiday, a steady stream of people—mostly Chinese—coming from all over the country to see Shanghai and spend time with family. I’ve never seen so many people crowd the streets as I do here during New Year, but by now I’ve gotten used to it 🙂
